Discover Croatia: Why should you study in the heart of Europe?

Choosing where to pursue higher education is a significant decision that goes beyond academics. Croatia, with its blend of academic excellence, natural beauty, cultural richness, and affordability, emerges as a perfect option.

Nestled in the heart of Europe, Croatia stands as a hidden gem waiting to be explored by international students seeking a unique and enriching educational experience. With its rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cultural scene, Croatia offers more than just an academic journey - it provides a transformative adventure.

Breathtaking landscapes and cultural richness

Imagine studying against the backdrop of turquoise waters, historic architecture, and lush greenery. Croatia's diverse landscapes, including the stunning Dalmatian Coast, picturesque islands, and the enchanting Plitvice Lakes National Park, provide a unique setting for a truly immersive learning experience. The country's natural beauty is not just a sight to behold but also a source of inspiration for academic pursuits. Croatia's rich cultural heritage is a tapestry woven from various influences, including Roman, Venetian, and Ottoman. Students studying in Croatia have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a vibrant cultural scene, from attending traditional festivals to exploring ancient ruins. The country's dynamic arts and music scene further enhances the overall cultural experience.

Academic experience

Croatia has a good quality of public higher education with universities all over the country, from north to south and east to west. Major universities in Croatia, including the University of Zagreb, University of Split, and University of Rijeka, rank among the top 500 globally. Croatian higher education system follows a three-cycle structure - undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate - and utilises the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), facilitating international students' studies in Croatia and recognition in their home countries. Read more about this on the Study in Croatia website that is the official source of information about higher education. Croatian universities offer a lot of studying programmes not only in English but also in German. For more information about the studying programmes in English check this website.

Affordable living cost, scholarship and tuition fees

Compared to many Western European countries, Croatia offers a more affordable cost of living. This includes reasonable accommodation, transportation, and daily expenses. Students can enjoy a high quality of life without breaking the bank, making it an attractive option for those looking for a budget-friendly study destination.

Tuition fees for study programmes in Croatia are set by each institution, varying based on programme type and duration and field of study. Tuition fees are approximately between 1000 and 12000€ per year, depending on the field of study. For Croatians living abroad, the Central State office for Croats Abroad annually offers scholarships, and for foreign students some Croatian institutions may provide financial aid  or you can always apply for  scholarships available in your own home country.
