ESN Zadar was founded only two months after the establishment of the first Croatian section, ESN Zagreb, in November 2011. From that day on, the number of the members varied. Currently, we count 20 members and around 100 Erasmus students every semester. In Academic year 2013/2014, we got our official office space which makes our work considerably easier. We work closely with International Office of the University of Zadar, Student Council of University in Zadar and we are also working closely with association CINAZ and Info centar for youth who promote extracurricular activities for local students and youth in Zadar.
The first thing that comes to mind when mentioning Erasmus+ is multiculturalism and diversity. That is exactly the spirit we want to share, and with that in mind, we organise a series of international dinners. This way we presented Croatia and its culture, and along the way tested the level of knowledge of our Erasmus students through fun games and quizzes. We as a section have really good conditions for travelling so every semester we visit lots of cities and places in Croatia and we try to cooperate with the rest of ESN sections as much as possible while on the road. Every year we visit Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb and in summer semester we even visited Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina with ESN Split and it was the best trip for our Erasmus students.
We also love to discover places in our region so we organised a dive and a trip to Nature park Telašćica for which we got our Star of the week, trips to Nin, Paklenica National park and picnics at St. Mihovil Castle which is on an island across Zadar where we organise a light climb and team building games for Erasmus students and ESNers. Something we are most known for is our annual Boat party for which we also got Star of the week. Since Zadar is a city of basketball and sport we follow basketball games, play beach volleyball tournaments and organise yoga classes.
We participate in the implementation of almost all ESN international projects. We have SocialErasmus activities including volunteering in a dog shelter, kindergarten, Erasmus in Schools, we got a recognition from our national board for organising the best SocialErasmus week in the winter semester 2015. We also have ExchangeAbility events including visits and workshops in blind association and sign language workshops and videos for which we got a Star of the week, recognition from our National Board for the most creative promotion of ExchangeAbility project, we were on national television talking about the project and we got a movieSTAR award on AGM Germany 2017. We had few Mov'inEurope events in collaboration with our university, city library where we talked about student mobility almost every month and our students share their culture and stories from Erasmus, national events such as making of the #WhyErasmusPlus video and campaigns on our facebook page. In the month of October, we organised activities for "Time to move" campaign from Eurodesk in collaboration with CINAZ where we promoted mobility with presentations, "Faces of mobility" photo exhibition that lasted a whole month and will be presented at the National Erasmus + Conference in Zagreb 14.11.
We organised the 8th National platform of ESN Croatia where we were pronounced the best section and made a national ExchangeAbility event where we made our sign language music video called Show me ESNlove. We hosted all sections, buddy country Hungary, ESN Finland representative and our new partner Eurosender. On the national level, we were also involved in events such as making #WhyErasmusPlus video, National MovinEurope meeting or national SocialErasmus events or videos. We are also involved in national ESN Croatia event, Croatian Erasmus Event (CEE).
Everything we do for Erasmus students we do for us as well. We use the time we need for organising events for team building activities and we have lunch together pretty much every single day. We live in a really small city and not a day goes by that we don't see each other on the streets. But the things we do just for us as ESNers and teambuilding are movie nights, trips and the most usually long coffee breaks, something Croatians are known for. It really feels like we are on Erasmus with our students and we make the best out of every situation.
